Florida unemployment rate drops to 4.8 percent

The state Department of Labor and Industry reports the largest gains were in the construction, professional and business services and health care industries.
The national unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in March, 0.2 percent lower than the month before, the U.S. Department of Labor said. That has only happened in two other periods in the last 41 years. The labor force consists of employed residents and those who are unemployed and actively looking for jobs.
Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has hit its lowest point since May 2008.
Stanislaus County had a March unemployment rate of 8.8 percent, which is up by the slimmest margin from the adjusted rate of 8.7 percent for February.
