The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. White House sources painted the Hungarian adviser's move as a voluntary one, but it's hard to imagine Gorka-who, like Steve Bannon, was among the ideological misfits from the conspiratorial fringes that hopped on the Trump train early on-leaving on his own after managing to make his way to a seat next to the seat of power in Washington.
And the Daily Beast on Friday reported the administration was kicking around the idea of removing Gorka from the White House - with plans to possibly install him in a job that doesn't need security clearance.
"Gorka does not have much of a reputation in serious academic or policymaking circles", Stephen Walt, a professor of worldwide affairs at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, told Business Insider's Pamela Engel.

US President Donald Trump's Deputy Assistant Sebastian Gorka, who joined the administration as a counterterrorism adviser, is expected to leave his job at the White House, administration officials told CNN.
Gorka's place within the Trump administration has remained nebulous but is believed to have involved advising the president on national security. "This guy has always been a big mystery to me", the source said of Gorka's contributions to the staff. "One senior administration official said Gorka is expected to find an opportunity outside the White House soon".
