Irving saves his best for when Cavs face Finals elimination

When Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors last July, they were the definitive favorite to win the NBA Championship. He was a unanimous choice among the panel of 11 voters.

"We did it", Durant said, when asked if he had any words for his mother by an ABC reporter. "And we did it together".

The Golden State Warriors secured their second National Basketball Association championship in three seasons with a 129-120 Game Five win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, capping a near-perfect run through the playoffs. That stung ever since, as Durant understood, because he gave up the same lead to the Warriors a round earlier with Oklahoma City. He was determined "to be myself". He was named NBA Finals MVP, as he scored 30 or more points in each of the 5 games. A James three boosted the Cavs to a 18-11 lead at the 6:48 mark. That was Durant's first Finals. Every championship in one of the four major sports since the A's in 1974 at been won in a road venue, with the closest being the A's title in 1989 coming at Candlestick Park and the 49ers winning Super Bowl XIX at Stanford.

"But I always say the biggest adjustment in the playoffs that you make is always an emotional one".

"No, they got us where they want us", LeBron James said. "And it also helps when you are able to experience some things with this team as well". We didn't seem that nervous in Game 4. Warriors championship parade set for Thursday in OaklandStephen Curry added 34 points, 10 assists and six rebounds as Golden State closed out its second title in three years after squandering a 3-1 lead a year ago to the Cavs to miss a repeat.

"You learn from your mistakes".

But it seems like an even more improbable task than it did a year ago. "I told you (his mother) when I was 8 years old".

Durant was brilliant and Curry was great and scored 31 while veteran Andre Iguodala provided the extra boost needed, scoring 20 points off the bench.

Dennis Rodman headed to North Korea
The network spotted the former Chicago Bulls player preparing to fly out of Beijing International Airport . CNN's report also says the goal of Rodman's latest North Korea visit is "unclear".

LeBron James had a game-high 41 points but defensive breakdowns by Cleveland led to easy baskets late in the game for the Warriors, igniting a deafening crowd. It came with a sweetness of knowing that for the first time since 1974, a Bay Area team dirtied it's one locker room with a wild champagne celebration.

When the Warriors added Durant, some felt there could be a clash of egos with trouble adjusting.

Thompson has spent most of the series chasing Irving around the court like a yellow lab who keeps chasing a ball, at least that's how it looks at times to coach Steve Kerr.

"There was never any question in my mind this was going to work", Kerr said.

Thad Matta Out As Ohio State Coach
While coaching at Xavier, Matta led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances consecutively, according to ESPN . He guided the Buckeyes to the 2007 national title game, losing to Florida, 84-75. "But I feel great".
