Jeff Flake (R-AZ) appeared on "Fox & Friends" to discuss President Donald Trump's campaign promise of a wall along the United States/Mexico border. "It's going well. And what the president does, that's his prerogative", Flake told the newspaper.
Flake also voted for the skinny repeal bill - but Trump has praised Flake's primary challenger Kelli Ward on Twitter. He is being challenged by a far-right candidate in the primary, and if he wins, he will face a challenging general election race as well. However, he also noted that he has no regrets calling out the president.
In case there was any doubt, Trump dropped his no-name directive in a Wednesday morning tweet: "Phoenix crowd last night was incredible - a packed house".
U.S. to Curb Issuance of Non-Immigrant Visas in Russian Federation
While condemning the visa move, Mr Lavrov said Russia would not retaliate against Americans requesting Russian visas. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would respond after a closer examination of the USA announcement.
Trump then added, "Nobody wants me to talk about your other senator, who's weak on borders, weak on crime, so I won't talk about him".
Sen. Jeff Flake said Thursday that he's eager to work with President Trump on border security and a wide range of issues, extending a olive branch after Mr. Trump thrashed him on his home turf in Arizona.
Two sources familiar with the meeting told CNN it was focused on ousting Flake - who Trump calls "the flake". He refused to support Trump's nomination, repeatedly expressed skepticism over Trump's alleged ties with Russian Federation, and dampened expectations on the Republican agenda, contradicting Trump's desire for fast policy wins. Republicans only hold small majorities in both the House and the Senate.
Korean troops start drills amid N. Korea standoff
North Korea has warned the USA it will be "pouring gasoline on fire" if they carry out drills with its long term foe South Korea . Read: What is China's role in the North Korean crisis? The U.S. has been burned before when it suspended military exercises.
While President Trump stated this showed the border wall was working, Senator Flake said they were actually replacing the old landing strip fencing in the area with an actual fence, as it was too opaque to see through. "There are a lot of things that we talk about, but what we don't talk about is feelings", said McConnell Communications Director David Popp. So if it stays around there, we should expect a rough result for him in the midterms.
Nor were Republican lawmakers immune to Trump's implicit criticism.
Outside the Phoenix Convention Center where the President spoke, police used gas canisters to disperse a crowd of anti-Trump protestors.

Officer Matthew Baxter , a three-year veteran, was killed while Sergeant Sam Howard was severely injured in Kissimmee, Florida. The officers exchanged gunfire and struck the unidentified suspect, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
"I think the president and all of us share the same goal: to have a secure border", he said.
