United States conducts missile test over Pacific

One of Raytheon's most advanced missiles intercepted a medium-range ballistic missile during a test near Hawaii on Tuesday, Tucson-based Raytheon Missile Systems and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said.

The missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai, Hawaii.

Mike Campisi, Raytheon's SM-6 senior program director, said the company developed the anti-ballistic missile capability in just seven months after it was requested earlier this year. Sailors aboard the destroyer USS John Paul Jones tracked it with radar and fired an interceptor missile to shoot it down. Earlier Tuesday, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan, a close US ally, that landed in the Pacific Ocean.

Flake also voted for the skinny repeal bill - but Trump has praised Flake's primary challenger Kelli Ward on Twitter. Two sources familiar with the meeting told CNN it was focused on ousting Flake - who Trump calls "the flake".

Deployed on U.S. Navy ships, SM-6 delivers a proven over-the-horizon offensive and defensive capability by leveraging the time-tested Standard Missile airframe and propulsion system.

Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland says North Korea's latest provocative missile test is a reckless violation of Japan's sovereignty.

This was the third time that the SM-6 missile successfully engaged a ballistic missile target in its terminal phase. The military has conducted three tests in total, but during a test in June, the interceptor failed as a result of human error.

The U.S. has lost a few Aegis destroyers in recent months, hindering missile defense in a volatile region.

In that test, the interceptor collided with the ICBM-class target over the Pacific Ocean a little more than one hour after it was launched.

Questions on immigration, race follow Trump to Arizona
Trump's unpredictable and bombastic style "makes us worry that he will come here and make things worse, not better", said Rep. Under Trump, racists are emboldened, people of color continue to be terrorized, and families continue to be deported.

The missile test comes amid rising tensions between the USA and North Korea after Pyongyang conducted several missile tests in recent months.
