Grambling State University to hold class after two shot and killed overnight

Two people are dead, and the search for a suspect is ongoing after a fatally shooting early Wednesday morning on the campus of Grambling State University. The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office is the lead agency in the investigation.

"It was an altercation that started inside one of the dorm rooms and spilled out into the courtyard", Williams said.

Authorities were alerted to the shooting by a female student, who called the University's police chief, on his mobile phone, said Sutton. The shooter, who is not believed to be a student, fled the scene and is still on the run. Caldwell was not enrolled at the school, Sutton said.

The campus has not been placed on lockdown following the shooting, but students have been advised to stay inside and be vigilant. There's no place for violence on Grambling State University campus.
