Simply put, Snooze is something that allows you to purge a person, page, or group from your News Feed for a set amount of time.
Snooze joins a series of other content controls for News Feed - Unfollow, Hide, Report and See First - to customize users' experience, Facebook noted.

The snooze feature is based on research that people are more happy using social media when they interact with people they like, versus just browsing the news feed, which some research says can be depressing. Imagine having a friend whose vacation pictures are giving you serious FOMO, or you just need a break from your insane uncle's MAGA rants (you might be better off unfollowing him entirely, but the choice is now up to you). Who would you like to test the new button on? Just because a person or a page or group sent one or two annoying posts doesn't mean they are totally going to annoy you forever, therefore totally unfollowing/unfriending them in this case is the permanent decision (sorta) that you shouldn't be making...yet. Facebook writes, "We've made several changes to News Feed to provide more opportunities for meaningful interactions and reduce passive consumption of low-quality content - even if it decreases some of our engagement metrics in the short term".
