Taggart, 41, led OR to a 7-5 record this year in his first season with the Ducks.
Taggart was a possible candidate for other open head coaching jobs this year, but Feldman passed along he was not leaving OR for anywhere other than Florida State if it was available.
The decision to leave OR and replace Jimbo Fisher after just one year with the Ducks comes after a busy Monday that included both recruiting for his former team and meeting his future employer to discuss the gig.
