One tourist was killed and 12 others were injured when a hot air balloon crashed near Egypt's ancient city of Luxor on Friday. One tourist killed and twelve injured.
Other balloons had taken off around the same time but landed safely, the officials added, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
The balloon was carrying both Egyptians and foreign tourists, with the nationality of the latter not yet having been disclosed.

Officials said the pilot lost control after strong winds forced the balloon off course around 45 minutes into the flight.
The crash happened in Luxor, a popular tourist destination on the banks of the Nile River in southern Egypt.
