Your can now preorder Apple's HomePod smart speaker for $349

If there's more than one HomePod set up in the same room, the speakers can work as a stereo pair to make the sound even more immersive.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the new $350 device, which became available for presale on Friday and starts shipping February 9.

As for how the HomePod's sound compares with other smart speakers, Apple set up a demo space to match it against the Sonos One, Google Home Max, and Amazon Echo 2, playing the same songs, one at a time. It will remain in effect for "a limited time", according to the company. But if these nine reasons convinced you to go with Apple for your smart speaker, then what are you waiting for? That's THREE speakers for just under $98USD more than ONE HomePod.

Tesla Model S on Autopilot Crashes into Fire Truck in California
Tesla's "autopilot" is not fully autonomous driving, though it can look like it for short stretches and under specific conditions. The Culver City Firefighters Twitter account tweeted out photos of the crash, stating "Amazingly there were no injuries".

The only problem is, that might be all that HomePod is.

I was impressed with the bass on the HomePod.

Siri has come on a long way with the HomePod though. For instance, Apple said HomePod will ship without some of the features originally announced, and that they would be added later this year.

The Islamist group is also holding the body of Oron Shaul, who was killed during the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas. Hamas accused the Palestinian Authority of assisting Israel's security forces during Thursday's raid.

If you love Apple Music, live fully inside the Apple ecosystem and want a smart speaker reading your text messages to you, this might be for you. I found that to be mostly true, although the shape of the room and proximity of the walls tended to affect the sound in a few instances. I'm kinda all over the place. Incredibly clear sound, small but unique design, all with the ability to be controlled by your voice. So there isn't a clear victor in the Apple HomePod vs Google Home vs Amazon Echo comparison here; one should simply expect slightly uneven results for the foreseeable future. HomePod only works if you have an iOS device. With the Apple device, there are now no cheaper options. Siri can also tell you all kinds of things about the song you're playing: when it came out, who's playing drums, the band's history, and more. The company has also talked about its use of differential privacy to ensure any data it uses to improve its services can't traced back to individual users. "The team has worked to give Siri a deeper knowledge of music so that you can ask to play virtually anything from your personal favorites to the latest chart-topping releases, simply by saying 'Hey Siri'". This means users will be forced to pay a monthly fee for Apple Music if they want to listen to music on the speaker.

The HomePod brags about a huge variety of features. While that's great when it comes to such features as Handoff - which lets you answer calls from your iPhone on your MacBook - it puts Apple at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to music.

The final piece of the HomePod puzzle is its smart home functionality. This includes working with third-party messaging apps and controlling HomeKit-enabled smart devices.
