After a long, drawn-out saga, J.D. Martinez has finally agreed to a deal with the Boston Red Sox. Although, the Red Sox have not yet confirmed the deal.

The Red Sox already had the highest payroll in the majors, totaling over $200 million. FanRag Sports' reporter Jon Heyman reported earlier this month that Martinez would hold out if he didn't receive the money he wanted.

Martinez figures to be Boston's primary DH in 2018. "I know there have been some comments that I respect that we didn't have the most popular team, but when I look at (Andrew) Benintendi and Mookie Betts and Rafael Devers and Bogaerts and Bradley, I see energized, young, exciting players". ESPN first reported the deal.

The Red Sox are holding their first full-squad workouts in Fort Myers on Monday, and most people have settled on the idea that the team will be bringing back essentially the same exact roster from a year ago.
