More snow and ice forecast for Sunday

A status yellow wind warning has been issued for the entire provinces of Munster and Leinster, as well as Galway, with southwest to west winds expected to reach mean speeds of between 55 and 65 km/h, with gusts up to 110 km/h possible on Saturday afternoon and evening.

On Friday afternoon, Met Éireann issued their latest batch of seemingly never-ending weather warnings and no county in the Republic of Ireland is being let off the hook.

A spokesman said: "A very cold westerly airstream will bring frequent snow showers to many western and central areas on Sunday".

"For a time most of this going through Saturday night into the start of Sunday leaves behind a legacy of icy patches, so you will have to look out for those first thing Sunday". It will clear overnight with wintry showers following and with frost and ice developing.
