Pakistani Taliban claim attack that killed 11 soldiers

The Inter-Services Public Relations, the Pakistan Army's media wing, said the attacker on Saturday targetted the sports area of the armed forces' unit and those killed include seven soldiers who were critically injured in the attack.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday attended the funeral prayers of 11 security personnel, including an officer, martyred in a suicide attack in Swat valley on Saturday.

Initial reports suggested that the bomber blew himself up in a ground where soldiers were playing volleyball.

A spokesman for the outlawed Pakistani Taliban swiftly claimed responsibility, saying the attack inflicted heavy casualties, though militant casualty tolls are often inflated.
