Police officer, suspect dead near Atlanta

One police officer was killed and two deputies were shot Friday morning while they were serving a warrant in Georgia, according to 11 Alive.
According to Mayor Robert Price, Chase Maddox, 26, was a five-year veteran of the Locust Grove police department after serving in the National Guard.
After talking with the person who they wanted to arrest, deputies called dispatch for backup and the Locust Grove officer arrived minutes later.
The officers' conditions were not immediately known.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes watched on as police officers escorted children home in the Hawthorne at Linden Park subdivision in Locust Grove.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been notified and is en route to the scene.
Tanger Outlet is located on I-75 at Locust Grove Road.
"Police officers don't get paid enough for what they have to do", Wade Corley said. GBI also identified the two wounded deputies as Michael D. Corley and Ralph Sidwell "Sid" Callaway.

Two of the officers were taken from the scene to a hospital by helicopter, while the third was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
The man who shot at them is dead, WSB reported.
