French figure skater Gabriella Papadakis said that the wardrobe malfunction during her performance was her 'worst nightmare happening at the Olympics.' The athlete said that she was nearly in tears after this episode.
The famous ice skater, Gabriella Papadakis, was shocked after she faced an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while performing her ice dance along with her partner.
The dancers ended up in second place after the contest, placing just behind Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
Gabriella Papadakis (l.) and Guillaume Cizeron (r.) won the silver medal following their record-breaking performance during the ice dance figure skating event. "It was my worst nightmare at the Olympics". And it's true that, despite the distraction her broken outfit must've caused, Papadakis refused to be put off. I told myself, "I don't have a choice". "When the clasp became unhooked, the 22-year-old Papadakis was more anxious about holding up her outfit than making sure her twizzles and rhumba were in sync".
North Korea flexes muscles ahead of Winter Olympics with military parade
Ties are likely to be further strained by the presence of Kim Yo-jung, the younger sister of the North Korean leader. Early on Thursday state TV began showing patriotic films in what appeared to be a prelude to a live broadcast.
With tears streaming down her face, a clearly embarrassed Papadakis summoned up the courage to speak to reporters after leaving the ice.
Olympic ice dancers are taking extra precautions to ensure their costumes get attention for all the right reasons, using tape and glue to guarantee they stay covered up as they glide around the ice.
And to add insult to injury, the incident was replayed in slow motion on screens at the arena. "We can be proud of ourselves because we have been able to do a great performance despite what happened".
It's unclear if the judges docked them for the costume issue, but Cizeron seemed to think so in post-skate remarks.

That reality was made clear by immediate reactions to his announcement from across the political spectrum. Romney also would be a compelling addition to the ongoing congressional wrangle over health care.
Though the two managed to complete their routine, it was obvious that Papadakis was struggling to keep her dress up.
On day three, South Korean skater Yura Min's dress came undone seconds into her performance.
"Instead of dancing and being in the moment, they were just trying to keep it together", Dubreuil said.
They finished second only behind the Canadian pair Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who also delivered their own incredible performance to just edge past with 206.07 vs 205.28.

That left Cantlay with a one-stroke lead after the front nine, though Watson came storming back. But he went after birdie and watched the ball roll 20 feet down the hill, leading to bogey.
