How American alum Andre Ingram just became the NBA's best story

After 10-years in the National Basketball Association development league and a record 713 three-pointers made, 32-year-old Andre Ingram became the NBA's oldest American rookie since 1964 on Tuesday night, and he did it while dropping 19 points for the Los Angeles Lakers against the NBA's top team, the Houston Rockets, in his debut. "MVP chants, that's just insane", Ingram told reporters.

Andre Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers celebrates after making a basket during the first half of a game against the Houston Rockets on April 10, 2018. "Once we went out as a team for warm-ups, I just felt some electricity out there". He sunk each of his three free throw attempts, four out of five three-point attempts and six out of eight field goal attempts, all at the ripe age of 32.

And the 32-year-old former Perth Wildcat didn't disappoint, dropping 19 points to go with three blocks and three steals. "I suggested him, 'Rather a lot respect.' I indicate, 10 years grinding throughout the G League, to lastly get a risk and to play like that, it's pretty explicit".

After all, he is 384 games into a career which, until now, had been mostly spent in the G-League, the NBA's minor league. His 19 points were the most by a Laker in his first career game since Nick Van Exel dropped 23 in 1993.

"It was excellent", Ingram said with a broad grin. But that didn't stop Ingram, watched by his wife and kids, enjoying the experience.

If you knew the name Andre Ingram before he joined the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week, it was probably for one of two reasons. Ten years in the D League, but it wasn't like 10 hateful years or years I didn't enjoy.

Ingram also earned respect from around the world, receiving praise from NBA, MLB, and National Football League players, among many others.

His debut came a day after he was surprised by former player and Lakers president Johnson, who gave Ingram a contract until the end of the season. "But so thankful it did".
