John Isner produced a brilliant performance to end Juan Martin del Potro's 15-match winning streak and secure a place in the Miami Open final. McEnroe, a 1989 Roland Garros doubles victor and 1991 Australian Open singles semifinalist, said that Del Potro complained a lot during the Indian Wells about the crowd cheering after his first serve faults against Roger Federer, who counted on a big support from spectators.
Isner began his tournament with a hard-fought three set victory over Jiri Vesely with the American winning 7-6 1-6 6-3 to progress.
John Isner fought back from a set down to claim the biggest title of his career at the expense of Alexander Zverev in the last Miami Open final to be played at Crandon Park.
However, both Zverev and Isner, who had struggled in the new season before heading to Miami, stepped up their games and are now a win away from clinching the prestigious hard-court Masters 1000 title.

He couldn't be playing better, or serving better, right now.
"When he plays as good as today, he's one of the tougher guys on the tour", del Potro said. The intriguing match up has the 20-year-old Zverev trying to add to his constantly growing resume, and the 32-year-old Isner trying to earn his first Masters trophy to add to his pedigree of the best American male tennis player of this generation. "Very happy it's all sort of coming together right now", Isner said. "I am the world No 6 and I think I wouldn't have imagined to be the number six being that close to retirement". He also didn't even face a break point throughout the match, underscoring just how dominant he was when he was in control of his service games.
"I will try to keep going and see how far I can go", Del Potro said.

The 2012 Olympian defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev in the men's singles final, ending it with two consecutive aces to overwhelm the fifth-ranked men's player in the world. It was an ugly first set, but Isner won it in a tiebreaker.
However after taking the first set, the German was outdone by Isner, who prevailed in three gripping sets - 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Despite that, the two have always been put on a display of high-quality tennis, with their match in Miami a year ago the most entertaining. "I made some winners; made some backhand winners finally in the match and found my rhythm", said Zverev said of the breaker.
