Prince Philip admitted to hospital for hip surgery

The Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to hospital in central London for planned surgery on his hip, Buckingham Palace has said.
Despite officially retiring in 2017, Philip appeared publicly with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family last December for Christmas morning church services and even participated in the family's yearly walk in Sandringham. "Further updates will be issued when appropriate", the Palace shared. Over the last week, Prince Philip's health has prevented him from attending traditional Maundy and Easter services at Windsor Castle's St. George's Chapel alongside Queen Elizabeth. Last November, royal expert Kate Nicholl told ET that Prince Harry's special bond with his grandfather is behind both the timing and venue for his upcoming nuptials.

In a short statement toPage Six, Parker said that: "Cynthia has been my friend and colleague since we were little girls. ET spoke with 51-year-old Nixon while she was en route to her first campaign event in Brooklyn, New York, last Tuesday.
The planned surgery will take place on Wednesday.
But the Duke has generally been of good health throughout his life and has kept active well into his later years and is thought to be keeping busy now he has effectively retired from royal duties. At times blunt to the point of rudeness, Philip is Elizabeth's most important support.
Prince Philip had announced his retirement from all public duties as the Duke of Edinburgh in May, 2017 owing to his age.
