Tour bus headed to the Masters golf tournament flips on Georgia highway

A charter bus carrying more than a dozen passengers overturned Thursday morning on Interstate 20 in Georgia's Columbia County.

Steven F Hoppenbrouwer, 61, was taking a group of 18 people to the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club when the bus flipped over on I-20 in Columbia County around 8:45am. Police say Hoppenbrouwer ran the side of the trail and over corrected until the bus overturned to the median. Sixty-one-year-old Steven Hoppenbrouwer is also charged with failure to maintain lane. Seven people, all adults, were admitted to Augusta University Hospital, five in serious condition and two in fair condition, said a hospital spokesperson. There were 18 passengers on the bus according to the statement.

The driver of the bus has been charged with DUI, among other charges.
