Iowa governor signs 'heartbeat' bill banning most abortions

Surrounding herself with small children to create an attractive photo op, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed SF 359 on Friday afternoon, imposing on Iowa the most severe abortion restrictions in the nation.

The bill is now led to Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds, that introduced Friday she'll signal the measure. (Most researchers have said a fetus is not considered viable before 20 weeks of pregnancy.) Since that ruling, banning abortion before the 20-week mark has been interpreted by the courts as unconstitutional.

Democrats say the law will drastically curtail the programs, causing higher rates and lost jobs. This is about life. "I'm not going to back down from who I am or what I believe in". MS enacted a law earlier this year banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, but it's on hold after a court challenge.

The laws bans abortion in all circumstances after six weeks of being pregnant, which critics of the laws argue is earlier than most ladies are conscious they're pregnant.

After the legislature passed the bill on Tuesday, Reynolds said she was pro-life, but had to review its details first.

At a rally in Des Moines on Friday officials of Planned Parenthood, the women's healthcare group and backer of abortion rights, said they would file a lawsuit to block the law.

There had been little doubt that Reynolds, who describes herself as "100 percent pro-life", would sign the bill.

The Iowa abortion law does provide for exceptions in the case of rape, incest, and fetal abnormalities.

Apple reports higher profits, unveils big share buyback
What's different this time is that analysts and investors had mostly been bracing for weak iPhone numbers ahead of the report . Apple pushed the industry towards "wireless" connectivity couple of years ago with the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

"It is time for the Supreme Court to weigh in on the issue of life", state Rep. Shannon Lundgren (R), the bill's floor manager, said.

According to the Register, proponents of the bill hope it will spark a legal debate that ultimately overturns Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court. The bill has been significantly controversial in the state, and there have been many protests. Reynolds acknowledged that there would be a court challenge.

"As Pope Francis has said, 'Let us respect and love human life, especially vulnerable life in a mother's womb.' We call upon the judiciary to once again recognize that all life should be protected from the moment of conception to natural death", the bishops said.

Reproductive rights advocates say the new potential bans also signal that conservative states are not afraid of being seen as extreme on abortion. It is the earliest abortion ban in the United States.

The defending champions are dominating again, and now Stephen Curry is ready to rejoin the mix and make them that much better. The Pelicans are more equipped for an up-tempo game than to slow the ball down and operate in a plodding half-court setting.
